Tuesday 28 June

Yet another good breakfast - I don't think that the hotel was anticipating the dessimation of their nutella and croissant stocks - after our men decended they certainly were short in this area. The Zadar outdoor pool is situated right on the edge of the sea - an ancient tidal pool complex - it sports a three tier diving platform. Naturally this was an immediate challenge for the boys who decided to jump from the highest platform - straight into the sea. A tough training session followed and included a stretch session, hard swimming, passing, ball carrying and shooting. Having packed for the day we headed for the city. After a brief tour of the city centre which included places of historical significance dating back to Roman times. The boys were given free time to explore the city centre. Other sites of interest that we discovered was the sea organ and the solar panel system built into the prominade walkway called welcome to the sun - this stores solar energy and emits light in the evening. We headed back to the open air pool for our first match against VK Zadar. Despite being exhausted from the long day, much of which was in the sun, we put in a good performance. All the boys got a lot of game time and the junior team had an even tussle with their opponents. The setting of playing on the edge of the sea with the sun descending into twilight was stunning. Afterwards we were all well rewarded in finding a good restaurant and enjoying a superb dinner together.
